Wendy Anggerani
Wendy has proven to be one of the most sought after musician in Sydney and now in Asia. Her ethnic background (Chinese Indonesian) and jazz education from AIM make Wendy a versatile pianist/keyboardist and vocalist. It's not just her ability to listen and compliment fellow musicians, Wendy is also a great arranger and composer.
Throughout her career, she has worked with the foremost musicians from many countries: Australia, Brazil, Africa, China and Malaysia.
Recently she played keyboards for up and coming Sony artist Lovers Electric on Channel 7 Australia. Earlier 2008, Wendy also played at Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta with famous singer Dewi Sandra. She has performed in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian drummer extraordinaire Lewis Pragasam with his band Bali Lounge, that included Indonesian bassist Harry Toledo and Indonesian artists Bibus and Tompi. In China, she has performed as a duet with Didi Mudigdo in Shenzhen.
In Australia, Wendy was performing with Craig Calhoun and the brothers of Oz, Shauna Jensen, Peter Morgan, and Australian Idol 2003 finalist Cossima de Vito at several Sydney venues. She also performed with Dwiki Dharmawan at his Sydney workshop at the Australian Institute of Music. In the World Music scene, Wendy has performed in several World Music Festivals in Australia with Brazilian band Eddie and The Malanhos, African bands Gervais Koffi and Afro Moses , and Deva Permana's gamelan jazz fusion band GARIS. With these artists, Wendy ventured around venues in Sydney and beyond, most notably are The Basement, The Vanguard, Soup Plus, Kiama Jazz Festival, Darling Harbour Fiesta Festival, and Musica Viva's Cafe Carnivale.
When it comes to Indonesian local artists, Wendy has performed with the best of them: Glenn Fredly, DEWA 19, Shanty, Bob Tutupoly, and AB Three. In the musical theatre scene, Wendy has been involved with TOMMY and Promises, Promises,both are productions run by The Australian Institute of Music. On top of that she is currently lecturer and accompanist at The Australian Institute of Music
Wendy Anggerani was born in Bandung, Indonesia. In 1999, Wendy came to Sydney to study jazz piano at The Australian Institute of Music (AIM) under the guidance of Mr. David McRae. She finished her bachelor degree in June 2003, with First Class Honours. During her years studying at AIM, Wendy founded TEMBANG, a jazz fusion band. They performed at her graduate recital at The Basement.
Up until 2004, Wendy was the music co-ordinator at A Different Corner Production or ADC. ADC is a non profit organization which promotes performing arts for Asian Australians in Sydney. In 2004, Wendy performed with her own big band in ADC Unplugged and Kick Up The Dust.
